Andy Bell

RV 2017/18

The Immagration Desk

Stopped in her tracks on a visitor Visa

She was led away

Put in a room with an Iron Bar

She didn't want to stay

Thoughts of me were in her mind

Her heart was put in turmoil

Stomach aching, hands shaking

She couldn't stand the strain

I was waiting through the gate

Unaware of her confusion

My heart was racing,,. Just as fast

But singing a different tune!

The Immigration officer tall and slim

Started searching her bag to see what was in?

Having been through Immigration many

times before,

She never thought to check her doors?

Weeding out the futile few

Not a nice job for him to do

Plastic gloves and sliding hands

He just points and makes demands

His searching and rummaging, the looking through

Nothing Much... Mei-ling could do?

An invasion of her private frame

It's hard to stand and play the Game.

Poetry - The Moment my future walked inside

Suspicion mounted while in her bag...

From a letter written in her boyfriends hand

Was this a friend? Was this her Lover?

He started reading... to discover!

Question after Question fired at once

Who…? What…?Why…? Where…?

Who is he…? What dose he do…?

Why did you not tell us… of a love so True!

Why should I tell you, of my love so true

It should be for me… and not for you!

Interrogation of privacy was the name of the game

"Tell me the truth or you're on the next plane!"

This Bureaucratic Red Tape

An invasion of one's life

Why should my love, be afraid of them?

She had nothing to hide!

Our happy reunion was cut to shreds

With the Immigration verdict...

She looked in my eyes with her teardrop smile

To say…"Andy my love"…"Not 6 months"…

"I can only stay", ... 14 days!
